Sri Lanka Launches Free 30-Day ETA for India & 39 Countries

In a massive move that’s expected to give a major boost to tourism in Sri Lanka, the country is giving free Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to a total of 40 countries, including India. This particular initiative will come into effect from May 25, 2026, and will remain in effect until further notice. However, it is important to note that any ETA fee paid prior to May 25 will not be refunded. This new initiative further cements Sri Lanka as a budget-friendly, domestic-like travel destination.

The free ETA will be valid for 30 days after arrival and will also include the facility of double entry within the window. In case you wish to extend your stay, you may do so by applying for a standard visa extension at the Department of Immigration.
