The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has unveiled a new train schedule, increasing the frequency of trains on the Noida Metro Aqua Line during peak hours and extending services at night. The revised schedule has been made to cater to increasing passenger demand. Anjenee Kumar, General Manager of NMRC, said the corporation had announced the changes in the last week of October 2026 to improve passenger convenience.

Noida Metro Aqua Line: Extended Service, Increased Frequency, And Increasing Ridership

The Noida Metro Aqua Line has increased the frequency of its trains during peak hours and also extended late-night services to meet rising passenger demand. The interval between peak-hour trains has been cut from 7 minutes 30 seconds to 6 minutes 35 seconds. The last train from Sector 51 towards Depot station will now leave at 11:25 PM instead of 10 PM. The first train, meanwhile, will continue to depart at 6 AM from Monday to Saturday and at 8 AM on Sundays.

This move follows the highest-ever single-day ridership on the Noida Metro Aqua Line of about 1,05, 358 passengers on October 23, 2026. NMRC attributed this rise to several passenger-friendly initiatives like the skywalk connecting Sector 51 and Sector 52 metro stations, QR-code-based ticketing and National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). With average daily ridership on the Noida Metro Aqua Line rising from approximately 73,000 in August 2026 to 83,000 in September 2026, October 2026 numbers are yet to be compiled.

The skywalk was opened to the public on August 28, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan, and formally inaugurated on October 4, 2026. The skywalk enables commuters for a smooth interchange between the two stations without having to take a longer route.

NMRC Focusing On Other Infrastructure Projects

The NMRC is pursuing other major infrastructure projects to increase its non-fare revenue. It has invited Expressions of Interest (EoI) for the commercial development of Plot FC-04 in Sector 94, adjacent to Okhla Bird Sanctuary metro station under a public-private partnership model. The plot has a permissible floor area ratio of 4.5 and is suitable for a shopping mall or commercial complex, according to officials.

The NMRC has also selected Larsen & Toubro in August to construct two metro corridors, including a 2.6-km extension from Depot station to Bodaki and an 11.56-km stretch between Botanical Garden and Sector 142. The detailed project report for a third corridor, an 8.4-km extension from Sector 51 to Sector 4 in Greater Noida West, is awaiting Union Cabinet approval as per officials.
