India’s first bullet train, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad line, will be launched on August 15, 2027, as announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to recent updates, passengers travelling on this high-speed rail corridor may get to purchase food and beverages from vending machines rather than through conventional onboard catering. Here’s more about this news.

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train To Use Vending Machines

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is currently considering a vending-based service model for Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train services. This is being considered, keeping the shorter duration of travel and high-frequency operations, which are planned for the high-speed rail corridor.

The authorities are looking at the vending machine service as a practical solution rather than a separate pantry or onboard catering arrangement. This is because at this high-speed rail corridor, the trains will be running at a speed of up to 320 kmph.
