Environmentally Friendly Buses Launched By DMRC
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has launched hydrogen-powered shuttle buses in Delhi’s Central Vista region. This launch is in collaboration with the central government’s ministries of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Housing and Urban Affairs.
In the official statement, DMRC mentioned that this launch will be a major step towards promoting sustainable, clean, and efficient urban mobility. It mentioned that the hydrogen-powered bus services serving the Central Vista area will begin from May 15, 2026.

These buses work on the electricity that is generated using hydrogen fuel cells. In this process, the hydrogen combines with oxygen and generates power. These buses are way more environmentally friendly as well as lighter than the traditional ones.
The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), as a part of the project, have offered two inaugural shuttle buses. The main aim of this project is to encourage people to use public transport instead of their private cars.

Routes, Fares, Timings And More
The ticket fare for these hydrogen-powered shuttle buses are priced at INR 10 and INR 15 as per the duration of the commute. All the passengers will have the convenience of paying through cash, UPI, or even by using National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC).
These buses will be serving the Central Vista region. Its main routes will be from the Central Secretariat Metro Station to the Seva Teerth Metro Station. The key landmarks that will be covered by these hydrogen-powered shuttle buses include:
- Vigyan Bhawan
- Akbar Road
- National Stadium
- India Gate
- Kartavya Bhawan
- Nirman Bhawan
- Baroda House
- National Gallery Of Modern Arts
Each of these buses will have a capacity of carrying 35 passengers. These buses will run from Monday to Friday, i.e., weekdays only. The frequency of these buses will be every 30 minutes and will run from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
