Ever since the Bengaluru-born burger chain announced its Mumbai debut with a cinematic CGI campaign featuring astronauts landing in Oshiwara, social media has been flooded with videos of its futuristic interiors, UFO-inspired branding, and colorful burgers. Naturally, we had to see if the hype was justified.
Located in Andheri West, Alienkind isn’t trying to be another gourmet burger joint. Instead, it combines science fiction-inspired interiors with globally influenced comfort food and playful drinks that are clearly designed for an Instagram generation. The experience is memorable, although the food tells a slightly more mixed story.
Unlike many new café launches that focus purely on aesthetics, Alienkind has built an identity around storytelling. Everything, from the menu names and packaging to the décor and branding, follows a consistent space-inspired theme. Burgers become “Starships,” sandwiches are called “HyperSlabs,” and even the drinks feel like they belong in a futuristic laboratory. This level of consistency helps the café stand out in an increasingly crowded quick-service market where many brands often end up looking and feeling similar.

ToggleFirst Impressions: A Café That Feels Like Another Planet
Neon orange lighting, scarlet walls, futuristic décor, and space-themed branding create an immersive atmosphere that feels more like a movie set than a quick-service restaurant. Every corner is designed to fit the brand’s sci-fi identity, making it one of the most visually distinctive cafés we’ve visited recently.
Alienkind Mumbai is also the brand’s flagship store and its largest location so far. A towering mannequin welcomes guests outside, while the interiors continue the futuristic theme with bold lighting, industrial finishes, and playful design elements that make the space feel interactive rather than simply decorative. The attention to detail extends beyond the interiors, with branded packaging, digital screens, and sci-fi-inspired graphics tying the entire experience together. It quickly becomes clear why almost every influencer is talking about Alienkind. What surprised us, however, is that very few are actually talking about the food.

Ordering Wasn’t As Smooth As We’d Hoped
As impressive as the café looks, the overall experience wasn’t completely seamless. During our visit, Alienkind was packed with customers, and it was clear the team was dealing with the crowds that have followed its viral opening.
We ended up waiting around 25 to 30 minutes for our order to arrive. Considering Alienkind positions itself as a quick-service restaurant, the delay was noticeable. There was also a mix-up with one of our dishes, where we received a paneer sandwich instead of our original order. Thankfully, the staff corrected it without any issues, and it gave us the chance to try an extra menu item.

What unsobered Ordered
Since this was our first visit, we ordered a mix of Alienkind’s most popular food and drinks to see whether the flavors lived up to the social media hype.
- Parmesan Chicken Burger – INR 399
- Harissa Chicken Sando – INR 399
- Truffle Mushroom Spaceship Burger
- Nebula Mango Blue – INR 399
- Mango Cloudy – INR 249
Our total bill came to INR 1,780, giving us a good opportunity to judge both the food and the overall value for money.

The Food
The Parmesan Chicken Burger was easily our favorite item of the meal. It offered a good balance of flavors, the chicken was juicy, and everything came together surprisingly well for what is essentially a fast-food burger. It wasn’t overly rich or loaded with unnecessary sauces, making it the one item we’d confidently recommend ordering.
The Harissa Chicken Sando was a different story. It reminded us of a slightly fancier version of a canteen sandwich. While it wasn’t bad, the combination of sauces and mayonnaise felt a little confusing and never fully came together. During our visit, the kitchen also accidentally served us the Paneer Sandwich instead of another order, but that mistake turned into an unexpected bonus because it allowed us to sample another item from the menu. We also tried the Truffle Mushroom Spaceship Burger, which was a solid vegetarian option with a pleasant mushroom flavor, though it wasn’t particularly memorable.
One interesting observation came from L, who pointed out that Alienkind isn’t actually the first to introduce UFO-shaped burgers. According to him, cafés in Nerul have been serving similar burgers for years, making the concept less groundbreaking than social media might suggest.
The Drinks
Alienkind’s beverages are just as visually striking as its food, continuing the café’s futuristic identity through vibrant colors and playful presentation. Much like the menu itself, they’re clearly designed to look great on social media.
The Mango Cloudy was enjoyable but leaned a little too sweet for our liking, with a slight artificial mango flavor that became noticeable after a few sips. We rated it 6/10 and 5/10. The Nebula Mango Blue was the stronger of the two drinks. Although it was also on the sweeter side, we enjoyed its creamy texture and subtle coconut flavor, giving it a 7/10.

Why Has Alienkind Gone Viral?
Alienkind’s rise has been fueled by a combination of social media marketing, bold branding, and a dining experience that feels different from traditional burger chains. The launch campaign, featuring astronauts arriving in Mumbai through a CGI-generated video, generated significant curiosity before the café even opened, while the futuristic interiors continue to attract creators looking for visually unique content.
The café also appeals to a younger audience that values experiences as much as the meal itself. Eye-catching interiors, unusual menu names, creative drinks, and distinctive packaging all contribute to making Alienkind a destination rather than just another place to grab a burger. That combination explains why it has become one of Mumbai’s most talked-about new cafés within days of opening.
Is Alienkind Worth Visiting?
Alienkind succeeds because it sells an experience rather than just a meal. The futuristic interiors, cohesive branding, and creative presentation make it one of Mumbai’s most photogenic new cafés, and it’s easy to understand why it’s dominating Instagram feeds.
That said, the food is more inconsistent than the online hype suggests. The Parmesan Chicken Burger genuinely impressed us, while the remaining menu ranged from decent to average. If we had to sum up our experience in one sentence, we’d say Alienkind’s branding is the real star of the show, while the food still has room to catch up.

Summing Up
Alienkind proves that cafés today are selling much more than food. They’re creating experiences that people genuinely want to photograph, share, and talk about. The Mumbai flagship succeeds in building an immersive atmosphere through its futuristic interiors, consistent branding, and playful menu, making it one of the city’s most distinctive new café concepts.
That said, the food doesn’t always reach the same standard as the experience itself. The Parmesan Chicken Burger is genuinely worth ordering, while some of the other menu items feel more memorable for their presentation than their flavors. If you’re already in Oshiwara, Alienkind is definitely worth checking out. We probably wouldn’t recommend traveling across Mumbai solely for the food, but for the overall experience, it’s easy to understand why everyone is talking about it.
