Attention, Mumbaikars! If you ride rickshaws for your daily travels and often book through apps like Uber or Ola, there's exciting news for you. A new app called 'Yatri Mitra' is launching soon. Developed by the Seva Sarathi Autorickshaw Taxi and Transport Union in partnership with Metazen Labs, a tech company from Thane, this app is set to make a big difference for drivers.

Yatri Mitra will be available starting July 15 in Mumbai and Thane and aims to be India’s most transparent auto rickshaw booking app.

The app focuses on fair pricing, supports drivers, and puts passenger safety first with every ride. There are absolutely no hidden fees or delays. Created to promote fairness and transparency, Yatri Mitra is the first app that allows drivers to keep all their earnings while offering passengers straightforward, meter-based fares. The app also promises no last-minute cancellations.

Yatri Mitra Will Initially Be Available In Mumbai And Thane Area

When you use it, you’ll only pay what's on the meter—no extra charges or surge pricing. It’s all about honest and transparent travel.

The app also includes real-time tracking and a smooth booking process, with a dedicated SOS button for emergencies that connects you to your loved ones and local authorities.

On the first day, over 2,000 rickshaw drivers signed up! Yatri Mitra even offers accident insurance worth ₹5 lakh for its drivers, giving them a level of protection that services like Uber don’t provide.

While this seems promising, it will be interesting to see how this app stacks up against Uber and Ola regarding competitive pricing and availability. In the future, it also aims to enter the cab booking market and plans to expand further into other parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. You can download the app on both iOS and the Play Store.
