The longest toy train in Himachal Pradesh, which is the Kangra Valley Railway, has finally restarted operations. This will be after a gap of almost four years! Longest Toy Train In Himachal Resumes Operations
Stretching across 164 km, the Kangra Valley Toy Train is the longest in Himachal Pradesh. It resumed operations on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. This toy train weaves through the towns of Nurpur, Jawalamukhi, Bajinath, and Palampur, thereby providing a vital mode of connectivity.
The toy train also plies alongside the mesmerizing Pong Dam, giving passengers unforgettable prospects from the window.

While locals do have the alternative of traveling by bus, it is a significantly more expensive mode of transportation, with tickets costing around INR 392 per person, in contrast to the train tickets, which cost INR 40 per person.

Why Did Kangra Valley Railway Stop?
In 2022, strong currents brought on by heavy rains significantly destroyed the railway bridge over the Chakki River. This cut off railway access between parts of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Now, after almost four years, the connection has been restored again.

On the first day, two seven-coach trains left the station at two different times. The first left at 5 AM and the second left at 7 AM. On the Himachal side, the service started at 8:30 AM.
