Among these 14 landslide-prone zones, the officials have identified about 4 extremely risky stretches. The senior officials have mentioned that these spots will be given extra attention, and extra caution will be taken by the administration. These stretches are:

Details Recorded, Residents Warned
The officials have issued cautions to the residents residing in foothill settlements and hill slopes. They have warned them about the possibility of landslides during the upcoming intense rainfall period in the city.
These residents have also been asked to keep the officials updated about any geographical conditions or situations that might lead to landslides during the monsoon season. The officials have also identified and marked the details of such shelter homes. They have mentioned that the focus is completely on immediate evacuation to help prevent loss of life in such emergencies.
Many risk mitigation works have been undertaken over the years, but even after repeated warnings, many residents continue to stay in such areas. Many activists have claimed that such residents resist relocation efforts as they fear losing their jobs in the neighbourhood. Another reason for resistance is the lack of alternative accommodation.
All the warnings are a result of the tragedies that have occurred in these regions previously. This includes one of the worst tragedies that took place in July 2021, when Gholai Nagar in Kalwa witnessed a landslide. The incident claimed five lives, while many were injured.
