Starting at 10 pm from Charni Road Station, the walk traverses through the historic lanes of Pimpalwadi, Kandewadi, and Khotachi Wadi. These are areas that once housed graveyards, chawls (old residential buildings), and even haunted theater venues. 

One of the most chilling revelations is that several current roads and lanes were built over old cemeteries, meaning participants literally walk over buried remains. For example, a Christian graveyard beneath a busy Mumbai lane was converted into a municipal road, but the bodies still lie underneath.

Throughout the walk, attendees hear a rich blend of history, architecture, and ghost stories. Participants learn about cursed stones from the 18th century, which residents used to protect their land through supernatural means. 

The cursed stone warns of punishment for anyone who violates certain social rules. This walk also highlights shrines dedicated to “friendly ghosts” known as Babdev, where people still come to seek protection and blessings from spirits.

The guide offers a disclaimer early on that the walk is not about stereotypical ghosts in white sarees. Instead, it is about authentic narratives and the relationship between the living and the dead in Girgaon.
