A staycation right in the heart of Mumbai might sound like an oxymoron, but trust us, it is everything but that! In a city that refuses to sleep, we found a break that didn’t make us leave the city at all. We’re talking about our staycation at Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport, where a weekend stay brought together good food, leisurely afternoons, cocktails, music and plenty of time to simply slow down.

Checking In And Settling Into The Stay

We checked in around noon, giving us plenty of time to settle in, refresh, and prepare for the exciting staycation experience. No packed itinerary, no rushing through to get things done – but the idea was to make the most of the hotel itself.

Our first stop was the MoMo Cafe, right beside the main lobby of the hotel. The restaurant’s buffet setup makes it easy to dip into a little bit of everything, but we enjoyed an a la carte lunch full of global and Indian dishes.

The staycation at Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai also includes complimentary buffet breakfast and dinner at MoMo Café, making the overall experience considerably more convenient, particularly for families.

Kids under 12 can stay and dine free, adding another practical advantage for those traveling with children.

And perhaps a major highlight of this curated staycation experience is the late check-out until 4 PM. It means you don’t have to wake up early, half-asleep, and rush through the check-out formalities!

Saturday Evenings At The Five O’Clock Club

Come Saturday evening and the pace at Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport shifts with the hotel’s Five O’ Clock Club.

Running from 5 PM to 6 PM, this is the perfect time for families to enjoy a laidback time together in the lawn area. With hi-tea, fun games, and live tunes, this experience is designed around the kind of easygoing evening that a staycation calls for. Definitely an enjoyable experience at the staycation at Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport.

Then, we headed to the adjacent lounge area, sipping a couple of cocktails and soaking in the relaxed atmosphere before readying ourselves for dinner.

Cocktails & Comfort Food At Ummrao Saaj

Perhaps the most rewarding experience we had during our staycation at Courtyard by Marriott Mumbai International Airport was our dinner at Ummrao Saaj.

Ummrao Saaj, the hotel’s Indian dining destination, offers a more atmospheric setting for an evening meal, and we spent our time trying the cocktails alongside the food.

Some of the highlights from the Awadhi menu that we tried include:

  • Jau Shorba: A flavorful, spiced tomato broth with mathri
  • Chowk ki Tikki: A crunchy, crispy potato patty served with raw mango chutney
  • Qasar-e-Phuktan:  A rich, layered gravy with paneer and roasted pumpkin sauce
  • The “Romance” or “Shringar” cocktail that’s made with sweet rose and lime infused gin with mulberries
  • The “Energy” or “Veer” cocktail made with whisky-forward sour with amchoor and smoked jaggery

The combination of unique cocktails, elevated yet rooted Indian dishes, and the exceptional service made our dining experience feel homely and comforting.
