Places To Visit In Kasauli On Day 1

1. Manki Point

Care for an interesting legend? During his return from a small adventure trip to the Himalayas, Lord Hanuman carried the Sanjeevni Booti and touched this hilltop with one of his feet.

You can visit Manki Point for the Hanuman temple and breathtaking views. The trek to the temple is short but tiring because of a steep climb. If you’re traveling with elders (or those just too lazy!), you can opt for the electric cars that run from the parking to the checkpoint, at reasonable prices. As the main temple is situated in the region’s army cantonment, no electronic gadgets or photography is allowed. Beware of the monkeys that rule and fleece the area!

2. Gilbert Trail

After you’ve offered your prayers at the temple, it’s time you go for a hike again! The Gilbert Trail is a short and sweet hike but the views you’ll get afterwards are worth it! Especially if you love watching birds or simply soaking in the fuzzy warmth of the sun. It starts past the Kasauli Club and ends at the Air Force station. As rejuvenating as it sounds, the path gradually gets narrower and slippery so ensure you’re wearing the right footwear and have your senses and hiking poles in place.

3. Christ Church

Dedicated to St. Francis and St. Barnabas, the Christ Church, formerly known as Anglican Church, was erected in 1853. Located centrally in the city, it is quite easy to spot the church. And considering you’re visiting Kasauli for the weekend, you’re in luck. Christ Church is only open to tourists on weekends. The European architecture here won’t fade off your memory soon. Stained glass windows depicting Christ, Mary, St. Barnabas, and St. Francis, a large clocktower with a sundial, and the altar sculptures are all works of art that you must see even if you aren’t big on belief.

Having trekked and prayed enough, it’s time you call it a day!
