BMC’s Plan For Northern Stretch Of Coastal Road
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is currently reworking its road networks for the upcoming north phase of Mumbai Coastal Road. This phase will link Versova with Dahisar and is built with an aim to reduce traffic pressure on Western Express Highway, SV Road, and Link Road.
The civic body is planning to integrate at least ten key routes with the corridor to prevent traffic bottlenecks. This is because the Coastal Road is an example of linear development, that is, it moves in one direction with planned entry and exit points.
But as the entry and exit points are fixed, people tend to face bottleneck traffic as everyone leaves or enters from the same point. Hence, BMC is looking at coming up with multiple points for entry and exit.
