Mumbai’s Aqua Line Metro Completes One Year With 7.2 Crore Passenger Journeys

The Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) has marked a major milestone in the transit history of Mumbai! It has officially completed its first full year of operations with more than 7 crore passenger journeys. The 33.5-kilometer-long corridor, which starts from Cuffe Parade in teh south to Aarey JVLR in the north, has simply changed the way Mumbaikars travel within the city! It is the flagship underground metro line of Mumbai and was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Mumbai Metro Line 3, or Mumbai Metro Aqua Line (as it is famously called), offers an air-conditioned ride spanning less than  60 minutes end-to-end, helping passengers save time. It eliminates the heavy traffic along the South Mumbai arteries and the Western Express Highway. In the last year, it has emerged as the primary option for many daily commuters, travelers, as well as business executives to save their time. 

It seamlessly integrates 27 stations stretching beneath some of the most dense urban corridors in Asia. This service operates every day from 5:55 AM to 10:30 PM with a frequency of 5 minutes. The line is loved and celebrated for providing high-capacity efficiency at fares that range between INR 10 and INR 70. 

By cutting down road congestion and vehicle emissions, Mumbai Metro Line 3 has not only saved the time of the commuters but also offered a greener transport option.

Mumbai Metro 3 Connectivity 

Mumbai Metro Aqua Line’s phenomenal ridership is the result of its direct connectivity to some of the most important transport and commercial spots of the city. 

One of the best features of the Mumbai Metro Aqua Line is that it has direct underground access to both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. This has helped eliminate the pre-flight transit anxiety of many air passengers with a super convenient way to reach the terminals. 

Secondly, it has direct access to interchange with outstation railway terminals and major suburban stations. This includes CSMT, Mumbai Central, Churchgate, and Dadar. It also connects teh corporate hub of BKC with South Mumbai’s financial districts at Vidhan Bhavan and Nariman Point.
