International Flights To Commence At The Navi Mumbai International Airport From July 15

Navi Mumbai International Airport is all set to commence international services from July 15, 2026. The airport had begun its domestic operations in the month of December 2025. Now the airport will soon commence scheduled international passenger flights and international freighter services. Here’s everything you need to know about this new development. 

Navi Mumbai International Airport To Begin International Flights

Air India Express and IndiGo are expected to begin international flight services at the Navi Mumbai International Airport. This will lead to the expansion of aviation infrastructure in Navi Mumbai. At the same time, it will strengthen the airport’s position as an important aviation hub. 

The launch of the Navi Mumbai airport’s international services is now in its final stage. It is under inspection by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). Under this inspection, the officials check, or rather test, whether the airport is well-equipped to commence international services or not. 

The Chief Executive Officer of the Navi Mumbai International Airport, BVJK Sharma, was at the BCBA Logistics Conclave in Mumbai. In a report by Travel and Leisure Asia he said that they will begin with international freighters on July 15. He said that the expectations are that the freighters will soon increase to 18 weekly flights. As there is movement even on the passenger side, they will commence international passenger flights too on July 15.

A Necessary Alternative 

The Navi Mumbai International Airport is considered to be an important alternative to combat the congestion at the CSMI Airport. The authorities of the Navi Mumbai airport have estimated that with the beginning of cargo and international services the daily passenger number would increase. 

Currently the airport handles about 20,000 passengers every single day. The expectations are to increase the number of passengers to 50,000 per day by the end of this year. 

The airport is designed by designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and will have three interconnected terminals. The terminal’s flowing roof contours are all inspired by the national flower of India, lotus. This INR 16,000 crore (about $2 billion) project will serve as Mumbai’s second international airport.
