About Ganesh Visarjan 2026 Mumbai

On Anant Chaturdashi, thousands of Ganesha idols, ranging from household Ganesha to huge community giant murtis, begin their journey towards the nearest water bodies (natural and artificial) across the city.

Final aartis are performed at the pandals and households before taking Bappa out for visarjan. Major sarvajanik pandals begin moving their idols out of the pandals in the late afternoon.

The energy peaks between 6:00 PM and 4:00 AM as all the famous mandals’ idols reach the shore. Thousands of people gather at the shore, chant “Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya!” one last time before the idols are rowed into the deep waters.

1. Girgaon Chowpatty

Located in South Mumbai, Girgaon Chowpatty is known as the epicenter of Visarjan. Hence, this place attracts a huge crowd of millions to witness the biggest visarjans of the city.

Where To Stand: The beaches might get overcrowded, making it difficult to stand there. Hence, you can also stand on the footover bridges near Charni Road Station for an elevated view. The Marine Drive promenade near Wilson College is also a good spot to watch the processions making their way to the beach.

2. Juhu Beach

Juhu Beach serves as suburban Mumbai’s biggest immersion ground. This place is known to draw hundreds of thousands of devotees every year. There are chances that you might get to spot a lot of television and film personalities here participating in the immersion. 3. Shroff Building Junction

The Shroff Building Junction is one of the legendary viewpoints located in the Lalbaug-Chinchpokli belt. It is known for its elaborate mechanical Pushpa Varsha, or floral tribute, showered on the iconic idols like Lalbaugcha Raja and Chinchpoklicha Chintamani. Try to arrive early here (12:00 PM to 2:00 PM) before the giant idols exit the pandals.

Where to Stand: Try to stand on the footpath, not the road, as the crowd keeps increasing as the big idols pass, and it might lead to a lot of discomfort. Footpaths are a better and safer option compared to the roads. You can also stand on the station bridge facing Dr. B.A. Road for an elevated, panoramic view of the giant idols.

4. Dadar Chowpatty

Dadar Chowpatty offers a historic send-off point with the backdrop of Bandra-Worli Sea Link. This spot caters to Central Mumbai’s mandal idols, housing society idols, and household idol immersions. Where To Stand: Stand at the Shivaji Park sea-facing promenade for an elevated view. You can also stand near the main entry ramp as the processions pause there before heading to the shoreline.
