When you think about cruise trips, what comes to your mind? Ocean, relaxation, and an all-inclusive journey, right? But, talking about cruises being an all-inclusive journey, one of the cruises wishes to differ. Costa Cruises has recently introduced a new rule for all passengers on board. According to this rule, charges will apply to food taken back to the cabin! Yes, you read that right.

Cost Cruises To Charge For Food Taken To Cabin

Costa Cruises, one of the most well-known cruise lines across the globe, has introduced a rule where they will be charging 60 Euros for food taken back to the cabin. So the passengers who wish to take back food to the cabin will have to pay the additional charges for doing so.

Even after the introduction of this rule, the room services for suites and premium cabins will be available. The food will be delivered only by the staff that is well-trained in hygiene and sanitation procedures. So the only objective behind this is to prevent pest-related issues, potential health risks, and also keep the ship clean.

A Costa Cruises spokesperson spoke to Fox News and explained the new rule. He explained that the well-being and safety of the guests are their top priority. The onboard communication was shared on a limited number of specific sailings as a deterrent and preventive measure. The new rule is in line with their existing policies and also encourages guests to behave responsibly.

Mixed Reactions From Cruise Passengers

The European cruise passengers have mixed reactions about this new rule, according to Travel and Tour World.

Based in Genoa, Costa Cruises operates extensively in ports. This includes ports throughout European destinations like France, Spain, and more. Many passengers actually welcomed the focus of this new rule on order and hygiene. This is especially by the passengers on crowded Adriatic mini-cruises with stoppages in Santorini, Venice, and Dubrovnik. Some passengers also support the fines after witnessing unattended food in public areas.

However, there are some other passengers who are frustrated about the new rule. This is because the limited buffet hours and room service charges actually limit access to snacks, which affects people with dietary needs or medical needs.

Costa Cruises is currently the only brand under Carnival Corporation that imposes a fixed fee for violations.
