Uber, a leading global cab-hailing service, has introduced Uber Teens in India, catering to young riders aged 13 to 17. As our society evolves, ensuring a safe experience for both drivers and riders remains vital, particularly with the launch of this new feature aimed at teens. Read on to know more about it.

Uber Teens is now officially available in India, providing a safe and secure way for teenagers to use the Uber platform with their legal guardian's consent. To create a teen account, guardians must add their child to their family profile, allowing them to monitor their teen's ride activities. When a teen requests a ride, guardians will receive notifications, real-time alerts, and live trip tracking, allowing them to accompany their child's journey from pickup to drop-off.

Before utilizing the service, teens are required to complete a safety onboarding process. This training equips them with knowledge of the available safety features on every ride, ensuring they are well-informed before their first ride.

To support guardians, Uber also provides resources to help them prepare their teen for their initial ride once the teen account is set up. Guardians will have access to live trip tracking and receive updates for each ride their teen requests. They also have the option to contact the driver directly during the trip for added peace of mind.

When teen riders choose Uber Teens, they benefit from various safety features, including PIN verification and RideCheck, which enhances their ride experience. Furthermore, they can opt to enable Audio Recording during their rides, providing an additional layer of security.

Uber Teens Are Allowed To Bring Guests Who Are 13 Years Or Older

When requesting a ride, it will be clearly labeled as Uber Teen to help drivers identify that the trip is coming from a teen account holder. This transparency ensures that there are no surprises at pickup.

When traveling, teens are allowed to bring guests who are also 13 years old or older. However, guest riders must confirm that they have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Furthermore, all teen riders are required to sit in the back seat and must wear their seatbelts.

Drivers have the right to cancel a trip under certain conditions. This includes if a rider is under 13 if a guest rider aged 13 to 17 does not have parental permission, or if there isn’t enough room in the back seat for all teen riders.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think Uber Teens will ensure a safe ride for kids?
