The project is being executed in two phases to ensure smoother implementation. The first phase will connect Kharghar to CBD Belapur, while the second phase will extend the road up to the Nerul Water Transport Jetty. The alignment starts from Jalmarg in Sector 16, Kharghar, passes through key residential and transit areas, including the PAY Housing Scheme near the railway station, moves across CBD Belapur, and finally ends near DPS Nerul.

Environmental concerns have also been taken into account while planning the road. Since the stretch runs close to mangroves and the Panvel Creek, officials have slightly altered parts of the alignment to reduce ecological damage. Officials have moved some portions further inland to protect the natural surroundings, showing a more balanced approach to development.

The Kharghar Coastal Road will also improve connectivity with major existing routes. It will link to the Sion-Panvel Expressway, providing better access to Mumbai’s eastern suburbs. At the Nerul end, it will connect with Palm Beach Road, which is one of the city’s most important roads.

The project will also boost real estate and commercial activity in the region, apart from easing daily commutes. Areas along the corridor, including Kharghar, are already seeing new developments, and projects like the planned International Corporate Park are likely to benefit from better road access. This could turn the stretch into a busy commercial hub in the coming years.
