Jammu And Kashmir Launches QR Code System To Boost Tourist Safety In Pahalgam

Jammu And Kashmir

In an effort to enhance tourism and improve the safety of visitors, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir are implementing an innovative QR code-based identification system for all tourism service providers in Pahalgam. This initiative comes in response to a tragic attack that occurred in 2025, aiming to reassure tourists about their safety in this popular destination located in the Anantnag district.

Under this system, service providers, which include pony-ride operators, hawkers, and other business owners, will receive a unique QR code after being thoroughly vetted by the police and registered by local authorities. This code contains vital information about each provider, allowing tourists to easily verify their authenticity.

When visitors use their mobile devices to scan these QR codes, they can access complete details about the service provider, leading to greater transparency and trust. This move is designed to prevent fraud and ensure that only authorized individuals are offering services to tourists.

They believe that this system will play a crucial role in rebuilding trust with visitors, ultimately leading to a safer and more authentic experience in the region.
