DGCA Issues Stricter Rules For Shooting Content Across Indian Airports

You must have seen people making content at the airport to post reels on social media. But many times in the quest for getting likes, shares, and followers, people tend to forget being mindful while shooting content. This is why the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India has now issued strict rules against shooting content across Indian airports. If any passenger fails to adhere to these rules, they might face the consequences for the same.

Guidelines By DGCA Against Shooting Content At Airports

DGCA has issued certain guidelines in order to prohibit unauthorised videography and photography in the sensitive areas of all Indian airports. These strict rules are issued to control the recording and hence the online sharing of videos that show surveillance systems, security arrangements, and other airport operations.

The official body has released a list of airport areas that are now declared restricted ones, as shooting content (videography and photography) is not allowed here. If you wish to shoot any sort of content here, you need to have prior approval. These areas are as follows:

  • Security checkpoints
  • Aircraft aprons
  • Boarding gates
  • Runway buses
  • Aircraft handling zones
  • Any other sensitive operational areas

The reason behind DGCA coming up with stricter rules is the upward trend of passengers recording content at the airport. This becomes offensive because these reels may include sensitive information knowingly or unknowingly.

The action of security will be decided depending on the severity of the situation.

  • The recording device or phone might get confiscated. It will help in further investigation.
  • The passenger might be charged a penalty.
  • The officers can ask the passenger to delete the footage there and then.
