Rishikesh is one of the most popular religious and recreational tourist destinations in India, popular for its serene and tranquil environment. However, that may soon change. The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) has received approval from authorities for an extension that will link Delhi and Rishikesh.
