Panna Meena Ka Kund And Amer Fort: Is It Possible To Visit Both In A Day?

What Is Panna Meena Ka Kund?

Panna Meena ka Kund is a historic, 16th-century stepwell in Amer, near Jaipur city in Rajasthan. The stepwell (also called baori in the local language), is an 8-storey, 200-foot-deep stepwell. It is best known for its structure, made of geometric, crisscross patterned staircases that lead down towards the base of the stepwell.

While most stepwells constructed in Rajasthan have stairs on all four sides, the Panna Meena ka Kund has stairs only on three sides. The fourth side has a recessed room and an open verandah with octagonal chhatris (umbrellas) on the corners.

The stepwell is built to collect and store monsoon rainwater for dry months, serving as a reliable water source for locals. It also served as an informal gathering spot for local women.
