Delhi Mumbai Train Journey Will Soon Take Less Than 12 Hours!

Reaching Delhi from Mumbai and vice versa is about to take just 12 hours! Indian Railways is now working on the new Mission Raftaar, cutting travel time between Mumbai and Delhi to just 12 hours from more than 15 hours. Let’s take a look at Mission Raftaar, the new New Delhi Mumbai train that is about to transform train travel in India!

Mission Raftaar: The New Delhi-Mumbai Railway Route

Indian Railways is working on Mission Raftaar, the new New Delhi-Mumbai railway route that will have trains running at speeds of up to 160 kmph. The railway authorities are also working on cutting down the travel time from more than 15 hours to less than 12 hours. The railway authorities are carrying out several changes, including changes to the power supply systems, overheard wires, signaling, railway yards, and other equipment needed to run trains safely at higher speeds.

One of the latest developments took place in the Agra division with a new 2 x 25 kV Chhata Traction Substation (TSS) charged on September 7. The facility is part of the work being carried out on the Palwal-Mathura section of the Delhi-Mumbai Route.

The section will cover 84 route kilometers and around 336 track kilometers, with the section being upgraded to allow trains to run at higher speeds. The work will also include changes to overhead equipment, installation of Super Masts and Auxiliary Earth Conductors (AEC), as well as upgrades to the supply system.

How The Delhi Mumbai Train Will Change Travel?

Indian Railways is carrying out signaling and telecom work along with other civil and mechanical works. The Mathura and Bhuteshwar railway yards are also being upgraded. Moreover, the authorities have set September 30, 2026, as the target to complete all the key upgrades.

Currently, Delhi Mumbai train journeys take more than half a day. This upgrade promises to provide a solution for that by cutting down the journey time to just 12 hours.
