Velankanni in Tamil Nadu will soon witness a remarkable festival celebrating the annual Feast of Our Lady of Good Health. In order to accommodate the incoming crowds for this festival, the Tiruchirapalli Division of the Southern Railway has decided to operate weekly express special trains connecting Tambaram (Chennai) and Velankanni. Special Trains For Velankanni Festival Announced
The Feast of Our Lady of Good Health will start from August 29, 2026, and end on 8 September, 2026. The two new train services announced are numbered 06037 and 06038. The former is to Velankanni from Tambaram, and the latter is to Tambaram from Velankanni. The service will commence from August 24, 2026 onwards. The departure time for this train is 11:50 PM. It will reach its destination the following day.

On August 26, 2026, the return journey will commence with the train departing from Velankanni at 12:45 AM and reaching Tambaram at 7:30 AM the next day. The following are the official stoppages on the route:
- Chengalpattu Junction (CGL)
- Villupuram Junction (VM)
- Cuddalore Port Junction (CUPJ)
- Chidambaram (CDM)
- Mayiladuthurai Junction (MV)
- Karaikal (KIK)

How And Where Can You Book Tickets For Them?

Tickets for the special service trains can be booked either via the official app or website of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). You can also purchase tickets from the Railway Passengers Reservation System (PRS) counters.
These special trains consist of 21 coaches. These are targeted primarily at sleeper and budget-class passengers. Of the 21 coaches, around eight are reserved sleeper coaches. The other 11 are General Second Class coaches. The remaining two coaches are Divyangjan and Luggage-cum-brake coaches.
