Nepal Travel Advisory For Indians: Ministry of External Affairs Warns Against Visiting Amid Unrest

Nepal Travel Advisory For Indians

Nepal, famous for its breathtaking landscapes and mountains, is currently facing significant unrest. This turmoil was sparked by the government’s recent decision to ban 26 social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook, after these platforms failed to meet a registration deadline set by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology. Critics believe this ban is an attempt by the government to stifle an ongoing anti-corruption movement. The protests in Nepal, primarily led by Gen Z, have pressured Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to resign due to widespread outrage following police clashes that led to the deaths of 22 demonstrators advocating for anti-corruption.

In light of the ongoing unrest, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised its citizens to postpone any travel to Nepal. The MEA shared its travel warning through social media, encouraging Indians to refrain from all non-essential trips to the country until the situation improves.
