50 Tourist Sites To Be Developed, Spiritual And Heritage Tourism To Get Promoted
In the financial year 2025-26, India plans to develop 50 tourist sites throughout the country. The 50 best tourist destinations will be upgraded in partnership with the states. States will need to provide land for building essential infrastructure.
To enhance India’s role as a center for spirituality and heritage, the government plans to promote spiritual and heritage tourism. There will be a special focus on locations connected to Lord Buddha’s life, strengthening India’s reputation as an important Buddhist pilgrimage site. The July Budget will continue to emphasize places of religious significance, especially those related to Lord Buddha.

Financial Support For Homestay & Simplifies Visa Process Announced
During the Union Budget 2025-26, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that financial help will be provided for homestays. MUDRA loans will be available for homestay owners to support local businesses and tourism that benefits the community. Additionally, there will be special training programs for people, particularly at the Institutes of Hospitality Management, to enhance their skills in tourism and hospitality.
Additionally, the government plans to implement a streamlined e-visa system. It aims to provide visa fee waivers for certain tourist groups to draw more international travelers. Finally, from a tourism perspective, improvements will be made to transport and logistics infrastructure to facilitate easier travel to popular destinations.
