There are a few temples in Mumbai that are as iconic as the Siddhivinayak in Prabhadevi. It is central to the faith of millions who visit this place every day. However, given the large crowds of people that visit to get blessings, the temple premises can at times fall short in effectively managing them. Heeding this situation, the Chief Minister (CM) of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, has announced that the premises of this holy site will get a makeover.

In a post made on X (formerly known as Twitter), CM Fadnavis stated that the bhumipujan for the revamp was done on Monday, May 25, 2026. This will be Phase I of the renovation of the temple and will include lighting and plumbing for the temple. It is estimated to cost INR 78 Crores.

If reports are to go by, the completion of this Phase I of the temple will take around two years. Once completed, the temple will be able to accommodate as many as 120 cars in its parking facility. This phase also includes the construction of a temple entrance gate and stone cladding work on the existing walls, both inside and outside.

More About This Legendary Temple
Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Siddhivinayak Temple was first opened in 1801. This makes it nearly 225 years old! One of the many reasons why this temple holds so much significance for devotees over other temples is due to a unique feature of the Ganesha idol in the temple.

Unlike the usual idols, the trunk of lord Ganesha in Siddhivinayak curves to the right instead of the left. This is seen as highly auspicious by devotees.
