How To Reach Jogini Waterfall From Manali
Jogini Falls is located at a distance of about 7 kilometers (km) from Manali and about 3 km from Vashisht Village. The trek isn’t very difficult, so even a beginner trekker can participate in it.
Most trekkers start their journey from Vashisht Village as it is closer to the falls than Manali. The trek route passes through a narrow lane right next to the Vashisht Temple and passes through some of the most scenic apple orchards and lush green meadows.
You’ll be making your way through meadows and expansive lands of pine trees, witness snow-capped peaks, and see the Beas River flowing with all her might.
Alternatively, you can get taxis and autorickshaws from Manali Mall Road that’ll take you to Jogini Falls in just 15-20 minutes.
Jogini Falls Premises
As you start to reach your destination, you’ll notice the Jogini Mata Temple. Right next to the temple lies the base of the waterfall, where a small pool of water has formed due to the cascading water.
You can reach the upper viewpoint of the waterfall from its base, however it is quite steep. We recommend making your way to the top only if you’re a seasoned trekker. This is because the way is quite slippery and steep, making it difficult for average people.
In fact, many locals visit the temple and also bring along their children. The goddess is considered a highly revered deity here – so much so that the locals believe it one of the Shakti Peethas.
Lore Behind Jogini Falls
There are a few mythological lores associated with the Jogini Falls. The most famous one says that the waterfall used to serve as the ritual bathing place of Jogini – Lord Indra’s daughter.
Based on this story, the waterfall got its name of ‘Jogini Falls’.
As per locals, the site is believed to be one of the Shakti Peethas in Hinduism. When Sati was insulted by her father for choosing to marry Shiva, she engaged in self-immolation.
Devastated by her passing away, a mournful Shiva carried the body of Sati across the cosmos in search of help. As he grew helpless, he started performing his wrathful Tandava dance.
Concerned about Shiva, Lord Vishnu used the Sudarshana Chakra to divide Sati’s body into 51 pieces and scattered them on Earth.
These pieces were eventually consecrated as ‘Shakti Peeths’ and temples were built at these sites to honor Goddess Sati. The locals believe that the Jogini Mata Temple is one such Shakti Peeth.
Jogini Falls Entry Fee

Manali Jogini Falls Timings
While there is no fixed opening and closing hours for the waterfall, we highly recommend that you visit the waterfall during daylight hours.
You can visit the waterfall from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM for the best experience.
Plus, it will be much safer than trekking to the falls after sunset.
Best Time To Visit Jogini Waterfall In Manali
Note that the best time to visit Jogini Falls is when the weather is pleasant and the route isn’t slippery. This makes the months of March to June the best time to visit the waterfall.
