For the last few years, Goa has spoken about becoming more than just India’s party capital. Now in 2026, that shift is finally starting to take visible shape. The state’s long-discussed “workation” push is moving beyond announcements and into actual infrastructure, with beachside co-working hubs, digital nomad-focused spaces and startup events now actively taking place across Goa. The idea is simple: attract people who want to work remotely while living near the beach.

ToggleGoa Is Actively Building Its Workation Ecosystem
The Goa government has continued expanding its WorkationGoa initiative in 2026, focusing heavily on beaches like Morjim, Ashwem and Colva. According to multiple reports, the state is developing dedicated workation hubs with co-working infrastructure aimed at remote workers and digital nomads.
The project is being led by the Goa Information Technology Development Corporation (GITDC), with several hubs planned under long-term development models. Reports from late 2025 confirmed that the Morjim hub was already under development, while Ashwem’s plans were nearing finalization.

Beachside Co-Working Spaces Have Already Started Opening
While some government-backed hubs are still under construction, private operators have already entered the space.
One of the biggest examples is The Circle.Work at Ashwem Beach, which launched in late 2025 and markets itself as India’s first “work-from-the-beach” co-working destination. The workspace offers high-speed WiFi, beachfront desks, meeting areas and long-stay memberships designed specifically for remote professionals.
Its current pricing includes:
- Day Pass: ₹550 + GST
- Hot Desk: ₹11,999 + GST monthly
- Private Cabins and Pods at higher monthly plans.
The concept has quickly gained traction among remote workers looking for quieter alternatives to crowded tourist zones like Baga and Calangute.
Goa Is Now Hosting “Workation” Events Too
In one of the clearest signs yet that Goa is fully leaning into the trend, the state government recently announced the Goa Shackathon 2026, a two-day beachside innovation event aimed at startups, remote workers and creators.
The event, announced by Goa IT Minister Rohan Khaunte, will transform beach shacks into collaborative workspaces where participants can work, brainstorm and attend tech discussions while staying near the coast.
Officials described the initiative as part of Goa’s effort to position itself as a global remote work and innovation destination.
Digital Nomads Are Already Choosing Goa
The shift is also visible online. Across Reddit workation and Goa travel communities, remote workers in 2026 are increasingly discussing long-term stays around Ashwem, Mandrem and Morjim because of better work-life balance, quieter beaches and improving co-working infrastructure.
Many travellers now specifically mention stable WiFi, beachfront cafés and slow living as reasons for choosing Goa for month-long workations.

Goa Wants To Move Beyond The Party Tag
The state’s larger goal is to diversify tourism beyond nightlife and short party trips. Officials have repeatedly said Goa wants to focus more on:
- regenerative tourism
- local culture
- wellness tourism
- long-stay travellers
- remote workers and startups.
And in 2026, that transition finally appears to be moving from policy discussions to reality.
