After deciding on a trip to Lakshadweep and getting your permit, the next thing on the list is deciding how you’ll travel. There are two ways that you can get to Lakshadweep: by flight or by ship. You’ve probably already traveled by plane before, and to try something new, we do recommend taking the ship. It’s an experience you want to experience at least once. Even if you fly to Agatti from Kochi, you’ll still need a ship for traveling between islands; (we highly recommend against swimming between islands!) We’ll be honest. Getting a ticket for a ship can be quite the hassle you didn’t sign up for (ultimately, you’ll still have to sign up to get your tickets). But hey! No pain, no gain. Let us make it a little bit easier for you as we guide you on how to book a ship to Lakshadweep.

Booking A Ticket To Lakshadweep
You can either get an offline or an online ticket. We recommend you get the online tickets just because they’re a whole lot simpler and faster.
The next step is to check for seat availability. There are limited seats available on every ship, and you’re going to need one to board the ship. So, you want to go to the Seat Availability page to check what options are open for you.
Select ‘Online Ticket’ and then choose your Source and Destination. ‘Source’ is the destination you’ll be departing from, and ‘Destination’ is the island you’ll be dropped at. Add the captcha (which doesn’t filter out corporate robots, whew!) and wait for the site to show all the vacant seats.

As you can see, we’ve entered Agatti as our Source and Kavaratti as our Destination. After pressing enter, you have two ships available to take you to your desired island, CORALS and LAGOONS. And you can also see how many seats are available in every category.
Once you have this information, go back to the Home Page and select the ship that aligns with your trip dates. Make sure you plan your trip well because the tickets are getting booked at the speed of light.
Good job! After the details are all filled, choose your class and then click on ‘Proceed’.
This is how your page will look next. Click on ‘Category’ and choose ‘Permit’ because you’re a visitor and you’re going to need a permit to board the ship and enter Lakshadweep.
After filling in all the details, you’re ready to pay!

Things To Do In Lakshadweep
Dive Into World-Class Water Sports
Lakshadweep’s crystalline, turquoise lagoons are prime territories for aquatic adventure. Scuba diving and snorkeling are non-negotiable experiences on islands like Bangaram, Kadmat, and Kavaratti. Certified instructors guide you through pristine, neon-colored coral reefs teeming with sea turtles, manta rays, and exotic fish species. For adrenaline on the surface, you can try windsurfing, kitesurfing, parasailing, and kayaking across the calm, shallow waters.
Go Island Hopping And Dolphin Watching
Because each pocket-sized island has its own distinct personality, hopping between them by speedboat or passenger ferry is highly rewarding. Take a boat trip around Agatti or Bangaram for dedicated dolphin-watching excursions, where pods of dolphins regularly breach alongside tourist vessels. You can also sail to the completely uninhabited islet of Thinnakara for an incredibly secluded, castaway-style day trip.
Explore Local Culture And Heritage
Take a break from the beaches to soak in the local history. Head to Minicoy Island, the southernmost gem of the territory, to climb the historic 300-foot British Lighthouse built in 1885 for a sweeping view of the endless ocean. If you time your visit with local festivities, you can witness the traditional Lava dance or watch the vibrant, fast-paced Jahadhoni (customized race boat) competitions.
Connect With Marine Nature
Nature enthusiasts should absolutely secure a boat charter to the Pitti Bird Sanctuary, an uninhabited coral islet that acts as a massive, bustling breeding ground for pelagic seabirds. Afterward, visit the capital city of Kavaratti to tour the Marine Aquarium and Museum, which beautifully showcases the archipelago’s diverse aquatic life, unique shells, and deep-sea artifacts.
Summing Up
Now that you know what the process of booking your tickets looks like, you’ll be able to navigate through the website much more swiftly. Just make sure you’re booking well in advance, as the seats get filled up fast, and it’s better to book prior to moving the dates of the trip. Apart from that, you’re all set to go!
