Food We Tried At Sienna Kolkata

Mejbani Mutton, Sooji Grits, and Wood-Fired Bread

INR 900

We first called for the Mejbani Mutton preparation and let us tell you that it was simply class apart! The meat was juicy, tender, and fell right off the bone. It was packed with flavor and even the gravy that accompanied it was full of rich flavors and spices. If you love mutton dishes, particularly made with Bengali spices, techniques, and essence, this one is a must-try at Sienna Calcutta.

Stuffed Chicken Wings & Morich Glaze

INR 600

We then ordered the Stuffed Chicken Wings and Morich Glaze and it did leave us divided on opinions. While the stuffing inside and the outer chicken wing balanced each other well, texturally it could use more help. The glaze is another bonus and works well, however, not everyone might like the dish overall.

Rolled Dumplings & Chilli Butter

INR 400

Rolled Dumplings & Chilli Butter came up next and we liked it! It is an enjoyable dish if you don’t mind eating mushrooms. In fact, it wasn’t overpowering with mushrooms and it didn’t fall flat either. However, it wasn’t a standout dish either. Overall, it was a comforting small plate, nothing more, nothing less.

Mishti Doi Crème Brûlée

INR 400

To end our meal on a sweet note, what better dessert to try in Kolkata than a bowl of Mishti Doi. However, at Sienna, this humble Mishti Doi marries the French Crème Brûlée, resulting in a smooth, velvety dish that manages to have the classic crackle of a crème brûlée. While we like our Mishti Doi the traditional way, this dish definitely deserves to be your choice of dessert here!

Sienna In Kolkata: Is It Worth It?

Overall, we spent about INR 2,573 on four dishes and for the price we paid, we believe that the food definitely did have room for improvement.

The food left us divided – it wasn’t unimpressive and neither did it blow us away. Service wise, it impressed us, thanks to the prompt and courteous staff. In terms of ambiance, it definitely impressed us! The space has a cozy, intimate setting that feels lived in and is well decorated.

While we tried these dishes, online reviews suggest trying its Ros Omelette and Steamed Bhetki among other dishes.
