October marks the official beginning of the optimal tourist season in India’s northern region. The monsoon rains clear up by late September, which leaves behind beautiful dust-free skies that simply multiply the illumination of the moon on the white Makrana marble. The temperatures during the month of October are pleasant, which makes it perfect for outdoor activities. This saves you from the blistering heat of summer or the dense fog of December and January.
Night Viewing In October
Taj Mahal offers night viewing on just five nights every month. This means you can view the Taj Mahal during the night on the full moon day, two nights before, and two nights after the full moon day every month.
It is closed every Friday with no exceptions at all. If the full moon falls on a Friday, that night’s viewing is canceled. This reduces the window of night viewing for that month to four days.
The night viewing time slot begins at 8:00 PM and runs till 12:00 AM. You will be sent in batches to witness the beauty of the Taj Mahal for night viewing. They host about 8 batches of a maximum of 50 people each. The duration for each batch is 30 minutes only.

How To Book
Since the capacity is capped at 400 people per night, the tickets sell out really quickly! Hence, make sure you book them well in advance.
You can book the tickets easily through the official website of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The tickets are made available on the website seven days prior to the viewing date.
You must provide valid identification at the time of booking. This ID must match your physical ID card, which you have to produce on site during security checks. You will have to show your valid government ID and your ticket confirmation at the time of entry. Also, check the weather conditions before coming to the venue.
All tourists have to report at least half an hour before the time mentioned on their tickets. This is to complete the mandatory security checks in time.
You are not allowed to carry tripods, video cameras, mobile phones, bags, battery packs, tobacco, sharp objects, large bags, drones, or any kind of food or drinks inside. Carry a travel light for a hassle-free entry. You can carry handheld still cameras and binoculars.

Since no flash units, tripods, or mobile cameras are allowed inside, and the fact that you have to stand at a distance, capturing a low-light picture can get difficult. Do not waste your time on getting the best picture; instead, live the moment and immerse yourself in the ambience.
The best time slot to book for night viewing is between 9:30 PM and 11:30 PM. The earliest batch coincides with lower moon angles, whereas the middle slots directly illuminate the dome.
