According to reports by The Indian Express, the Pune Metro currently operates on the 17.5-km PCMC-Swargate corridor and the 14.5-km Vanaz-Ramwadi corridor. Both the services run from 6 AM to 11 PM, with trains running every six minutes during peak commute hours on these Pune Metro routes. For the Ganeshotsav season in Pune, Pune Metro is preparing for a more efficient crowd-management plan.

Trains are being planned to run every five minutes on these Pune Metro routes, with more emphasis on frequency during heavy rush hours. Pune Metro’s daily ridership averages at about 2.5 lakh per day, and it is only expected to rise during Ganeshotsav.

Crowd Control At Mandai; Passengers To Be Encouraged To Use Nearby Stations

Maha Metro is preparing for a train frequency of five minutes during Pune Ganeshotsav 2026 season. It has plans to deploy all 33 three-coach rakes to increase the number of services. Out of these 33 three-coach rakes, 17 will be assigned to the Vanaz-Ramwadi corridor and 16 will be assigned to the PCMC-Swargate corridor.

The metro is expected to extend its services later into the night to accommodate for increased ridership during the festive season. Additional crowd-control measures will also be deployed at busy stations, particularly Mandai. This station is expected to see the heaviest crowds in the festive season because of its proximity to several Ganesh mandals, immersion and procession routes, and markets. Maha Metro may introduce separate entry and exit gates to regulate passenger movement during peak periods. Passengers will also be encouraged to use nearby stations like PMC, Kasba Peth, Swargate, and Civil Court to ease the passenger movement at Mandai station.

Online Ticketing Encouraged

To deal with the Pune Metro Ganesh Chaturthi crowd, officials have urged passengers to use online ticketing. This will help avoid long queues at counters and enable quicker passenger flow.
