AI-Based Pilgrim Management System At Sabrimala Temple

On Saturday, Jayakumar spoke about the AI initiative after a meeting with experts from different parts of the country. He mentioned that the initiative is a part of the Vision Sabrimala project. This project has already been accepted by teh Kerala High Court.

The proposal includes that the AI initiative will combine infrared sensors, high-resolution cameras, GPS mapping, drones, and predictive analytics. These systems will be combined to track pilgrim movement in real time. This will help in identifying the possible congestion before it develops.

This AI-based pilgrim management system will use data from the surveillance systems placed along the pilgrimage route. Using the data, it will show places where the congestion is likely to occur.

The main objective behind this is to predict any crowd build up before it occurs. It will also offer real-time guidance on all the measures that can ensure safety by regulating pilgrim flow. The system will also help in locating missing pilgrims through AI-enabled facial-recognition cameras.

More Consultations To Take Place Soon

The AI-based system will reduce dependence on large-scale police deployment during the annual pilgrimage season. It will help in maintaining continuity in crowd-management practices.

The discussion on the proposed system was attended by the senior police officers. This included ADGP Manoj Abraham and Pathanamthitta District Police Chief R Anand. There will be more consultations with the police before the project requirements are finalized. These consultations will take place after an Expression of Interest (EoI) and a Request for Proposal (RFP) is issued.

He mentioned that there are many stages involved in this process. They have to invite proposals, access the financial and technical capabilities of the applicants and then sanction the work. The authorities are aiming to complete the early stage of work by August.
