The fourth meeting of the State Transformation Commission was held on Thursday, 28 May, 2026. In this meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the public transport system around Jewar airport must be strengthened before June 15. This is because flight operations will begin on June 15.
Officials are currently planning to scale the network of electric buses to 500. This will be across all the areas surrounding the Jewar airport, like the industrial corridor, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region, and the infrastructure corridor. The expansion will set the tone for a much larger statewide electric public transport expansion, where there will be over 4,000 to 5,000 e-buses operating in Uttar Pradesh in the next few years.
The Jewar e-bus rollout is a strategic shift in Uttar Pradesh’s Electric Vehicle roadmap. The earlier municipal deployments aimed at reducing pollution, while this rollout is more about expressway-linked connectivity, airport mobility, and industrial corridors.

The only bottleneck to this expansion is the shift towards power readiness and charging infrastructure. The Chief Minister mentioned that the state is aiming to develop 10,000 EV charging stations by 2030.
