Owing to the ongoing US-Iran conflict, oil companies have announced a hike in fuel prices. Fuels like Diesel and Petrol will now get costlier by INR 3. In addition to this, the price of CNG has also gone up by INR 2 in Delhi as well as Mumbai. The blockade of the Strait of Hormuz following the escalation of the war by the US against Iran is having an impact globally. This price hike is also a ripple effect of that.

If reports are to go by, this fuel price increase is only about one-tenth of the rise that would have been required to offset the price rise in energy globally.

Earlier this month, PM Modi, too, appealed to the citizens to consume fuel consciously.

Following are the revised petrol prices in major cities after the INR 3 hike: 

New Delhi: INR 97.77 per liter

Mumbai: INR 106.68 per liter

Kolkata: INR 108.74 per liter

Chennai: INR 103.67 per liter

Following are the revised CNG prices after the INR 2 hike:

Delhi: INR 79.09 per kg

Mumbai: INR 84 per kg

Though the hike in price is unfortunate, the central government has assured that there is no shortage of fuel. The government has also specified that, as of now, it is not planning on rationing fuel.
