The booming eastern belt of Maharashtra is all set to get a major connectivity boost. The state government has granted administrative and financial approval of INR 104.48 crore. This funding is specifically earmarked for acquiring land for the Gadchiroli Greenfield Airport. With this funding, the airport is one step closer to becoming a reality. The approved budget of INR 104.48 crore will be used for securing a whopping 311.81 hectares of land. The Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) has been designated as the nodal agency and will oversee the land acquisition for this project.

The land acquisition will take place across four villages that are approximately seven kilometers from Gadchiroli. They are, Guruwala, Hirapur, Rakhi, and Shirapur Chak.

Breakdown Of The Budget

A proposal was approved by a committee led by the state’s Chief Secretary on May 8, 2026. Here’s how the budget of INR 104.48 crore is distributed:

Private Land (245.74 hectares): INR 76.99 crore

Forest Land Diversion (34.68 hectares): INR 10.07 crore

Government Land (31.38 hectares): Transferred free of cost to MADC.

Other Expenses: The remaining funds will cover the establishment cost, administrative fees, and 10% escalation buffer.

Previously, the regions of Murkhala, Pulkhal, and Kaneri Villages were targeted, but that route has now been changed.
