Delhi-Jewar Corridor: 10-Lane Bypass To Ease Traffic To Jewar Airport

Ahead of the launch of the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, also called the Jewar Airport, the Noida Authority is soon going to build a massive 10-lane bypass. This bypass will link Delhi to Jewar and will aid in relieving traffic congestion on the Yamuna Expressway. The airport is slated for launch on June 15, 2026, and IndiGo has been confirmed as the launch carrier of the airport. The Delhi-Jewar corridor will ensure that travelers don’t get stuck in traffic jams before reaching the new airport.

Delhi-Jewar Corridor: All About This 10-Lane Bypass

This particular corridor is being planned along the embankment of the Yamuna River and will have a total of ten lanes. It will start at Sector 94 (Noida) and will extend all the way to the Gharbara Village.

The bypass also merges directly into the Yamuna Expressway for seamless connectivity. It will have an elevated corridor that will connect the Mahamaya Flyover to the Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro.

How Will Chilla Elevated Road Help?

A 5.9-kilometer elevated stretch will connect Mayur Vihar to Mahamaya Flyover. This will be an important link for East Delhi residents, and the construction for this project has already crossed the 50% mark.

Why Do Travelers Still Prefer IGI Airport Over NIA?

Despite this new infrastructure push, a LocalCircles survey found that, surprisingly, 95% of NCR travelers still prefer and plan to stick to traveling via the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) over NIA.

One of the major reasons for this preference is the high fares. Launch day fares from NIA are trending at INR 5,072, as opposed to IGIA, where fares are approximately INR 3,600. Furthermore, there is also a User Development Fee of INR 653, and the landing charges at NIA are reported to be 119% higher than IGIA.
