For many travelers, the excitement of flying often fades when they see the prices at airport food courts. After clearing security, grabbing a simple snack or a bottle of water usually feels like a luxury because of the “airport premium.” However, a new government initiative is finally making airport dining affordable for everyone. The Udan Yatri Cafe has officially opened at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) Terminal 2 in Mumbai. Launched on 20 February 2026, this cafe is part of a nationwide project by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to ensure that no passenger has to travel on an empty stomach due to high costs.
Udan Yatri Cafe Offers Water For INR 10 And Coffee For INR 20
After successful launches in cities like Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, and Ahmedabad, Mumbai travelers can now enjoy the same budget-friendly benefits. Located at Terminal 2 Departures (between Gate 1 and Gate 2), the cafe was virtually inaugurated by the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. While Mumbai Airport is known for its high-end global dining, this new addition focuses on inclusivity and basic needs. The menu is simple but incredibly cheap – offering prices that are even lower than many local street stalls:
- Tea: INR 10
- Bottled Water: INR 10
- Coffee: INR 20
- Samosa or Vada Pav: INR 20
- Sweet of the Day: INR 20
This initiative is a breath of fresh air for frequent flyers, students, and families traveling on a budget. The government plans to continue this rollout, opening more Udan Yatri Cafes at airports across India in the coming months.
