Indians Can Now Travel To Armenia Visa-Free, But Here’s An Important Catch

Armenia

Armenia is a country that often goes unnoticed. Located in the South Caucasus, it lies at the meeting point of Eastern Europe and Western Asia. This nation is filled with mountains, ancient monasteries, and rich traditions. Visitors can enjoy the lively cafés and unique pink-stone buildings in Yerevan, relax by the calm waters of Lake Sevan, or take in the stunning views from the cliffside Tatev Monastery. While Armenia hasn’t received much attention in recent years, it is becoming a more popular travel destination. And now, Indians can visit Armenia visa-free.

From January 1 to July 1, 2026, citizens from 113 countries, including India, can travel to Armenia visa-free. This visa waiver aims to bring in more visitors and strengthen Armenia’s global connections, making it easier for people to plan both short trips and longer visits.

India now has an additional visa-free travel option with Armenia, but there are specific criteria that travelers must meet. Indian citizens are eligible only if they hold a valid residence permit from certain countries, including the United States, any EU nation, a Schengen Area country, and several Gulf states such as the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Oman.

Armenia Also Offers E-Visa For Indians For USD 8

The residence permit must be valid for at least six months from the intended date of entry and should be presented as a physical card or a visa sticker in the passport, clearly showing the document’s title, the holder’s name, nationality, date of birth, and validity period in Latin script using the Gregorian calendar. Before granting entry, border authorities will verify all documents. This policy is designed to enhance Armenia’s appeal to tourists from diverse regions like Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

However, if you do not meet the qualifications for this exemption, Indian passport holders can still travel to Armenia by applying for a simple E-visa. The cost for a single-entry visa is USD 8 (approximately INR 730), and you can apply for the Armenia E-visa online, with a processing time of around 5 to 6 days. You can visit Armenia for 5 to 6 days from India, or combine your trip with visits to Georgia or the UAE, as flights tend to be cheaper when booked together.
