Surajkund International Crafts Mela is a well-known crafts fair that showcases the finest traditions of handicrafts, culture, handlooms, and cuisine across India as well as other countries.

It is jointly hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Textiles, the Ministry of Tourism & Culture, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, and the Government of Haryana.

More About Surajkund International Crafts Mela

Every year, more than 40 countries participate in this craft fair to promote and showcase their regional culture through handicrafts and more. Last year, about 44 countries with 635 foreign artists participated in the Surajkund craft mela.

The authorities of Surajkund Mela provide free boarding, lodging, and transportation from Delhi Airport to the Mela ground. However, it is mentioned that any incidental expenses like customs duty, goods insurance, and airfare will not be paid by the authority.

Not only crafts, but many unique startups come here to promote their products as well. Artisans at the Mela sell their crafts directly, eliminating middlemen, so buyers purchase straight from the creators. This ensures fairer prices and authentic transactions for visitors.

Every year, the mela focuses on one or two states and highlights their craft and culture. The theme states for this year are Meghalaya and Uttar Pradesh.

These states get specific zones which they can decorate with their art forms, cultural symbols, and more, showcasing India’s diversity.

  • Fly into Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi, about 25 km from Surajkund.
  • You can take a cab or taxis which will take you to the venue in 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the traffic.

Metro

  • Bardarpur Border is the nearest metro station to the venue
  • Take the Violet Line directly and exit at Badarpur Border
  • From here, you can either walk or take a cab (10 minutes)

Train

  • The nearest railway stations are New Delhi Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin.
  • From here you can take a bus or a cab, which will take you to the venue in an hour.
