Om Shanti Om Shooting Locations

Mukesh Mills, Mumbai: This abandoned mill was the dramatic and iconic location for the fire sequence where Shah Rukh Khan’s character rescues Deepika Padukone’s character. Interestingly, the mill had itself been destroyed in an actual fire previously. This made it a fitting and intense shooting site without visual effects; real flames were used to shoot this scene. The use of real fire and authentic locations added unparalleled realism and dramatic intensity. This enhanced the film’s homage to Bollywood and its reincarnation storyline.

Film City, Goregaon, Mumbai: This location was used extensively for various indoor and studio shots, including major sequences like the scenes where, after reincarnation, SRK visits the new set.

Filmistan Studios and Yash Raj Studios, Mumbai: These have been Important studio locations for sets and controlled shoots in many other movies of Bollywood. SRK’s house as Om Makhija, the set where he fights the lion, and the song Om Shanti Om.

The production was noted for its authentic and elaborate set pieces. This included references to classic Bollywood scenes and vintage cars for authenticity. Most of the film was shot entirely in sync sound with real locations and large-scale studio sets. This was to create its authentic Bollywood grandeur.
