Indian Railways To Introduce 380 Special Trains For Ganesh Chaturthi

It’s that exciting time of year again when we come together to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi and welcome Ganpati Bappa with joy and zeal! In 2025, Ganesh Chaturthi falls on August 27, and it is one of the most significant festivals in Maharashtra dedicated to Lord Ganesha. To help everyone celebrate to the fullest in 2025, Indian Railways has arranged special services for the occasion. Indian Railways plans to transport around 700,000 people by train this Ganeshotsav, introducing a record 380 special trains, each capable of carrying between 2,000 and 4,000 passengers. Most of these trains will run from terminals in Mumbai, such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Bandra Terminus, Mumbai Central, Diva, and Panvel, with stops at various stations along the Konkan coast, including Ratnagiri, Kudal, Sawantwadi, and Kankavli.

According to the Indian Railways press release, a total of 380 special trains will be operated to handle the heightened festive demand. The Central Railway is set to manage the majority of these services, with 296 scheduled trips to accommodate passengers in Maharashtra and the Konkan region. Additionally, the Western Railway will contribute 56 trips, the South Western Railway will add 22, and the Konkan Railway will operate six trains.

The Ganpati Special trains by Konkan Railway will make stops at various stations, including Kolad, Indapur, Mangaon, Goregaon Road, Veer, Sape Warmne, Karanjadi, Vinhere, Diwankhavati, Kalambani Budruk, Khed, Anjani, Chiplun, Kamathe, Sawarda, Aravali Road, Sangameshwar Road, Ratnagiri, Adavali, Vilavade, Rajapur Road, Vaibhavwadi Road, Nandgaon Road, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Zarap, Sawantwadi Road, Madure, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon Jn, Karwar, Gokama Road, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Mookambika Road, Kundapura, Udupi, Mulki, and Surathkal.

Moreover, to assist with the return traffic, Central Railway will operate six eight-car unreserved special trains between Panvel and Chiplun on September 5. Ganesh Chaturthi is set to take place from August 27 to September 6, 2025, and to accommodate the expected increase in travelers, the special trains began operations on August 11, 2025, with additional services scheduled as the festival nears.
