Travelling to a new destination always brings excitement, allowing us to discover new sights and savour local cuisine. However, the airport experience can often lead to stress, with concerns about arriving on time, navigating security, and managing luggage. This travel-related anxiety can reduce the joy of the journey and linger until you finally reach your destination. To address this anxiety, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad has introduced a Therapy Dogs Program. This initiative is designed to improve passenger experiences by providing opportunities for engagement with therapy dogs. These friendly animals can help alleviate stress, enhance mood, and encourage a calming environment as travelers embark on their journeys.
The Hyderabad airport now offers passengers the chance to meet sweet therapy dogs. Two of these furry friends will be stationed in important areas after the security check.
These therapy dogs will interact with travelers in specific locations like the retail zone and boarding gates for both Domestic and International departures.
They will always be with trained handlers who ensure that interactions are comfortable. The dogs will engage with passengers who choose to approach them, and they will be present for 4-6 hours each day to make sure they have plenty of time to rest.
To create a fun and memorable experience, passengers can take part in activities such as playing fetch with the dogs using a small toy, taking pictures in designated selfie zones with the therapy dogs, and enjoying gentle petting sessions supervised by the handlers.
Hyderabad Airport Also Has Some Dos And Don’ts To Play With These Therapy Dogs
The therapy dogs at Hyderabad Airport are here to help relieve stress for travelers. However, there are some important guidelines that passengers should follow to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.
When interacting with the therapy dogs, feel free to approach them calmly and allow them to get used to your presence. It’s important to follow the handler’s directions and enjoy the moment, including taking pictures (remember to avoid using flash).
If you have allergies, please keep a safe distance and ensure your children are supervised while they engage with the dogs.
On the other hand, avoid forcing interactions. Only pet the dogs if they come to you voluntarily, and refrain from feeding them or making loud noises that could startle them. If you feel uneasy, it’s best to respect the wishes of those who want to engage with the therapy dogs.
This initiative establishes Hyderabad Airport’s commitment to enhancing passenger well-being and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
