Thanks to our love for K-Dramas and Korean music, it’s no surprise that we’ve developed a taste for Korean cuisine too. From ramen to tteokbokki and, of course, Korean Fried Chicken, we enjoy it all. In fact, Korean Fried Chicken has recently topped the list of ‘Best Fried Chicken Dishes’ globally, according to Taste Atlas, a renowned food guide. While Korean Fried Chicken took the top spot, India also made a proud mark, with our beloved Chicken 65 claiming the third spot! Yes, you read that right – our favorite starter, Chicken 65, ranked third on the global list.
Originating from Chennai in South India, Chicken 65 is a zesty, flavorful dish made with marinated chicken, ginger, lemon, red chilies, and a mix of spices, all deep-fried to perfection. This recognition is a major milestone for Indian gastronomy, with Chicken 65 being the only Indian dish featured on this prestigious list.
As for the rest of the list, Korean Fried Chicken took the top spot, followed by Japan’s Karaage in second. Ayam Goreng, which had previously topped the list, now sits at fifth. Other Asian fried chicken dishes making their mark include China’s Zhaziji, Taiwan’s Popcorn Chicken, and Indonesia’s Ayam Penyet.
Chicken 65’s recognition is yet another triumph for Indian cuisine on the global stage. In fact, recently The prestigious global food guide, TasteAtlas, ranked 62 of the world’s best coffees, and Indian filter coffee bagged the top spot on the list.
