Getting from Mumbai to Pune is pretty convenient – road trips, flights, or even a quick train ride are all good options. But let’s be real, it still takes away 2-3 hours of your day. And for those who are constantly shuttling between the two cities for work, it can be downright exhausting.

Now, what if we told you it could take just 25 minutes to get from Mumbai to Pune? Sounds too good to be true, right? Thanks to IIT Madras, this dream might come to life. They’ve unveiled a 410-meter Hyperloop test track, bringing us closer to making that 25-minute commute a reality.

According to multiple reports, 76 students from IIT Madras, known as the Avishkar Hyperloop team, are working with TuTr, a groundbreaking hyperloop startup to develop cutting-edge Hyperloop technology in India.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has frequently praised the collaboration between Indian Railways, TuTr, and the Avishkar Hyperloop team for driving innovation in transportation. They are rolling out the project in two phases. The first phase involves an 11.5-kilometre (Km) test track to demonstrate the system’s reliability, followed by a 100-km expansion for practical, real-world applications.

Hyperloop Was First Conceptualized By Elon Musk In 2012

The Mumbai-Pune route has been chosen for India’s first full-scale Hyperloop system, marking a major milestone in futuristic travel. If everything goes as planned, this project could slash the travel time between the two cities to just 25 minutes.

They expect to set ticket prices between INR 1,000 and 1,500, making it an affordable alternative to air travel.

First conceptualized by Elon Musk in 2012, Hyperloop is a cutting-edge transportation system. It is where pressurized pods zip through low-pressure vacuum tubes at incredible speeds of up to 1,100 km per hour. These pods can carry 24 to 28 passengers, ensuring energy-efficient, non-stop travel.

In India, the Hyperloop promises to revolutionize transportation, reducing the distance between cities and redefining how we experience travel.
