About The Project
The Napne Waterfall attracts a good number of tourists throughout the year. But during monsoons, when the beauty of the waterfalls and the surroundings are at their peak, it is not considered safe to visit the waterfall owing to strong currents. Hence, as part of the Sindhuratna tourism scheme, this high-strength transparent glass skywalk has been built.
The skywalk is built on a whopping INR 99.63 lakh budget and is expected to boost tourism in this region.
The Napne Skywalk project is part of a larger effort to tap the Konkan region’s potential. Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is working on multiple initiatives to boost connectivity and amenities in and around Sindhudurg, aiming to establish the area as a premier tourist destination.
How To Reach
Airways: The nearest airport is the Sindhudurg Airport, which is approximately 94 km away from the spot.
Railways: The nearest railway station is the Vaibhavwadi Railway Station, which is approximately 4 km away from the spot.
Roadways: If you are considering travelling by bus, there are many private and government buses that will take you to Sindhudurg. You can also take NH66 if you are travelling by your own private vehicle.
Safety
Not only does this glass skywalk offer an exhilarating experience for tourists, but its robust construction with steel supports and reinforced glass also ensures a safe and secure way to appreciate the breathtaking beauty of the Konkan region. This will pave the way for increased tourism and year-round traffic.
To make sure that the safety of the people is not compromised, only a certain number of people will be allowed to be on the bridge.
Visitors will have to wear shoe covers while they walk on the skywalk. This is in order to prevent scratches on the glass. While the bridge was being built, the government gave strict specifications about making the bridge good at resisting wind and the load of visitors.
Summing Up
Maharashtra’s inaugural glass skywalk is all set to give a thrilling experience with mesmerising views of the Napne Waterfall. Whether you are an adventure seeker or someone who loves nature, this place is a must-visit this monsoon.
