Vir Das, a well-known comedian and actor, is known for reflecting on societal issues through his comedic satire and clever remarks. Recently, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize Air India, one of the top airlines in India. Despite paying a hefty amount for their tickets, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the airline’s poor service.
On April 15th, Vir Das shared his dissatisfaction on X, stating, “Dear @airindia Please reclaim your wheelchair. I’m a lifetime loyalist. I believe you’ve got the nicest cabin crew in the sky, this post pains me to write. My wife and I booked Pranaam and a wheelchair because she’s got a foot fracture that’s still healing. We’re flying to Delhi. 50 grand a seat. Broken table and broken leg rests, and her seat is stuck, reclined and won’t straighten fully. Were told the flight is newly refurbished.”
He further elaborated on the difficulties his wife faced and pointed out the inadequate arrangements. Vir Das’s Tweet went viral and a lot of people shared their experiences online.

Amidst all this, Air India also issued a statement and said, “We are aware of Mr Das’s social media post regarding a wheelchair not being provided to a co-passenger on a flight from Mumbai to Delhi on April 14, 2025. We understand the importance of mobility and acknowledge that this situation did not meet our standards. Our cabin crew offered assistance, and while there was a delay—rather than a denial—in providing wheelchair help due to high demand, we remain committed to enhancing our guests’ travel experience.”
