This azure-blue world has an irresistible allure that we could only experience in aquariums. However, even in aquariums, we could only see them through a glass barrier, leaving many of us wanting for more. This underwater sea tunnel aquarium proved that you can get the whole 360° experience – here’s how!
Where And What?
From 3rd January to 2nd February, 2023, the IT Hub of India saw its first underwater fish aquarium. Built completely underwater, the tunnel aquarium provided a glimpse into the enchanting world of underwater sea creatures. If you’re a nerd for all things sea, this show was just for you!
With this fish tunnel aquarium in Bangalore, visitors were able to get a holistic experience by observing sea creatures from up close. The curved glass arching over gave a larger viewing area and a more immersive experience to the visitor – almost as if you were under the sea!
This underwater aquarium (Bangalore) was a part of the National Consumer Fair Group’s initiative and was opened at two venues in Bangalore – Kengeri and J. P. Nagar 8th Phase. The underwater aquarium in Bangalore was home to about 400 different fish species, meaning you could easily spend a considerable amount of time here spotting the various kinds of fishes. Plus, there were both freshwater and saltwater fishes – including eels, boxfish, and angelfish, among many others. There were two chambers for saltwater fishes, while there were 13 chambers for freshwater fishes.
This unique fish tunnel aquarium in Bangalore took a whopping 8 months to build. It was divided into various tanks that mimicked desirable environments for the respective fish species. These tanks had different temperatures and varying levels of salinity depending on the fish kept there. Also, did you know that these fish species were specially brought from waters in Kerala and Tamil Nadu as well as international waters from Thailand. Isn’t that simply mindblowing?
Not Just Underwater Aquarium, There Was More!
However, that doesn’t end there! You had other interesting attractions like exhibitions of extinct terrestrial animals like mammoths, gorillas, and dinosaurs. Plus, did we mention that it also had a vibrant flea market and food place to shop and eat to your heart’s content? Just when you were done exploring the seas and observed dinosaur fossils, you could stop by the various food stalls to grab a quick bite. These stalls had some amazing, droolworthy food to try out!
Moreover, you could also shop for all sorts of unique products like jewelry, antiques, local delicacies, apparel, and handicrafts. If that doesn’t excite you enough, there were also adrenaline-pumping rides for both adults and kids! Yes, you heard it right! Overall, this ‘carnival’ of sorts not only consisted of just the underwater aquarium in Bangalore, but also various other exciting activities for you and your family to do!
