Thailand Visa For Indians
Indians visiting Thailand for tourism purposes need not apply for a visa, as Thailand has granted visa-free entry to Indians visiting for up to 60 days.
Thailand had issued a 60-day visa-free entry policy to many countries around the world around July 2024. This list included countries like Cambodia, Fiji, South Korea, and Australia, among others. However, just a few months later, in March 2025, Thailand announced that it’ll withdraw its decision of allowing a 60-day visa-free entry.
This decision was taken as the country aims to tackle misuse of visa waivers by tourists engaging in illegal activities. Luckily, as of June 2025, Indians can enter Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa.
While Thailand allows visa-free entry to Indians (up to 60 days) for the purpose of tourism, Indians must apply for a visa if they intend to visit Thailand for a longer duration or other purposes.
Thailand E-Visa For Indians
The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi has announced that Indians can now apply for Thailand e-Visa starting January 1, 2025. The decision to roll out e-Visas for Indians aims to foster India-Thailand relations and strengthen Thailand’s position as India’s preferred travel destination in Asia.
Under the new e-Visa system, applicants will be required to submit their visa requests through the official Thai e-Visa website. Both individuals and authorized representatives can apply for a Thai e-Visa.
Notice by Thailand e-Visa official website: “E-Visa applicants are no longer required to submit passports and supporting documents in person at the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate-General. It is important to note that you are only able to apply if you are currently not in Thailand. After the e-Visa application has been approved, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to applicants, which can be printed out for presenting to airlines and Thai immigration officials when traveling to Thailand”.
Thai e-Visa Application Process
- Create an account on the Thailand official e-visa website.
- Fill in all your information at the application form.
- Upload the required documents to support your visa.
- Pay the required visa fees.
- Wait for the visa to be processed.
- Receive approved e-Visa by email.
The Royal Thai Embassy has stated that it takes about 14 working days from the date the visa fee receipt is issued for the visa to be granted. This shift towards e-Visas reflects Thailand’s effort to modernize its visa applications and make it more convenient for tourists. Along with the 60-day exemption, this offers another entry-exit option for Indian travelers.
Thailand Digital Arrival Card
Indians do not need to apply for a visa for up to 60 days in Thailand, however, they must have their Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). Indian tourists arriving by land, sea, or air are all required to apply for the TDAC at least three days in advance from the date of arrival in Thailand. Visitors entering Thailand must fill the digital form that consists mainly of three sections:
- Personal information
- Trip and accommodation information
- Health declaration
After visitors successfully submit the form, they’ll receive a confirmation by email. They must present it at the immigration counter along with other documents upon arrival.

Indians travelling to Thailand visa-free must have these documents with them during travel:
- Original, valid passport
- Return flight tickets
- Proof of accommodation
- Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC: 1 May 2025 onwards)
